Intern Application
In Summer 2025, we are proud to continue our commitment to providing immersive, hands-on aquaculture experiences through our internship program. Designed to support Minorities in Aquaculture (MIA) members at various stages of their academic and professional journeys, these internships offer invaluable opportunities to gain practical experience in the field, on farms, or in research labs. Each internship is tailored to align with the interests and career goals of selected participants, ensuring a meaningful and impactful experience. Internships typically run from June to August, with specific logistics determined upon selection.
This summer, we strive to select internship positions which include aquaculture farmers, programs, and laboratories within:

Who is Eligible
U.S. based women or female presenting LGBTQ+ individuals of color
Completed a minimum of high school or GED education
Interested in continuing or exploring a career in any aquaculture sector (shellfish, finfish, seaweed, commercial, academia, etc.)
Able to work in physical and labor intensive conditions with the assigned host employer to learn aquaculture techniques and provide assistance in host site operations.
Hard working, reliable and communicative individuals who can commit to Minorities In Aquaculture’s mission, vision and values.
What are the Benefits
All MIA Interns will be paid $17.50 per hour for 35 hrs/week for 8 weeks
Transportation reimbursement
Housing near host farm location (if needed)
Experiencing valuable hands-on aquaculture skills, work, and/or research
Building a professional network of mentors, educators, potential employers, and colleagues within the aquaculture industry
