We believe that by educating underrepresented demographics about the environmental benefits that aquaculture provides, we can create a more diverse and inclusive aquaculture industry.

ABOUT MIA

At Minorities in Aquaculture, we are transforming the aquaculture sector by fostering inclusivity and building a diverse workforce. We are dedicated to creating pathways for women of color to thrive in this vital industry, where their perspectives drive innovation and sustainability.

Aquaculture holds the power to tackle environmental challenges, like restoring keystone species such as oysters. To fully realize this potential, the field must reflect the diversity of the communities it serves. Women of color remain underrepresented, and their inclusion is essential to shaping a more equitable future.

Our mission is to educate and empower women of color with the tools to launch and sustain impactful careers in aquaculture. Through mentorship, training, and hands-on opportunities, we are growing a skilled and inclusive workforce, advancing sustainability, equity, and progress for all.

WE DO THIS BY:

amplifying our mission & expanding our community.

cultivating leadership & advancing careers.

building knowledge & strengthening communities.
